With over two decades of experience in corporate law and business operations, Jeff has served as the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for Evertson International, a privately held oilfield services company with operations in the US and Latin America, and in private practice with a highly regarded Houston business law firm. In his hybrid legal and business role, Jeff collaborates with C-Suite executives to establish strategic priorities and then works with the company’s department managers to create and implement the processes which turn those priorities into reality, all while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and minimizing legal risks.
With a passion for working collaboratively to solve complex problems, Jeff has participated in a variety of legal and administrative matters, including corporate governance, contracts, compliance, risk management, litigation, and strategic planning. Some of his notable projects include negotiating and executing a management buy-out of Evertson International, creating and managing the company’s first business development team, and designing and implementing a business reorganization which provided the company with positive commercial terms following a significant change in local law. Jeff leverages his legal knowledge and business experience to ensure that company interests are protected and advanced in competitive, rapidly changing environments.
He has been seasoned by the general challenges that most energy companies faced during the six-year decline in oil and gas markets from 2014 to 2020 and by the challenges that oilfield service companies operating in Venezuela faced, in particular, during this time. Jeffrey understands the importance of recruiting, developing and retaining the right people. He stresses the needs for a diverse workforce that collaborates better than the competition. As an international Business Executive in both the legal and energy industries, Jeffrey displays remarkable judgement and instincts when allocating limited corporate resources among the evolving and everchanging issues facing Evertson International. He is based in Houston and leverages an international network of friends and business colleagues to generate growth and create value for his company’s investors.
