David has over 20 years of experience representing the interests of his clients in a wide range of U.S. immigration matters. Since 2018, he has served as the managing attorney of Whittenburg & Strange, P.C., where he began his legal career. David oversees and manages all aspects of his firm’s day-to-day operations and thinks like a business owner because he is one. Before attending law school in Houston, he served in the U.S. Navy. After graduating from law school, he lived in Amarillo before returning to Lubbock, where he previously went to school and is now based. Since 2008, David has repeatedly taught both the Immigration Law and Advanced Immigration Law classes at the Texas Tech University School of Law. Since 2021, he has served as the Director of Immigration Programming at the Texas Tech University School of Law.
David draws on the market-leading position of his law firm and extensive personal, professional and academic relationships throughout Texas and in Washington D.C. to continue to grow his firm, professionally develop himself, his colleagues and employees and advance the interests of his and their respective clients. Whittenburg & Strange, P.C. owns and operates a law practice that first began serving clients in Amarillo over 50 years ago and currently has offices in Amarillo, Lubbock and Dallas. It is a full-service immigration law firm with a robust criminal defense and family law practices as well. The firm, once known as Whittenburg, Whittenburg & Schachter, boasts a rich history in the Texas panhandle where it is directly and indirectly responsible for recruiting many of Amarillo’s leading lawyers to the area from other parts of the country.
David holds a B.A. from Texas Tech University, a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center, and an LL.M. from the Georgetown University Law Center. He also has a Diploma in Russian from the Defense Language Institute / Foreign Language Center in Monterey, California, a Certificate of Advanced Spanish from the Insituto Biblico Nacional de Venezuela, and a Core Certificate from the Harvard Business School.
