Dan has over 30 years of operating and financial experience working in the oil and gas, petrochemical, regulated utilities and manufacturing industries in roles that include controller, financial analyst, chief financial officer (CFO), chief executive officer (CEO), director and consultant. He has led large organizations. Dan’s experience includes working with equity sponsors, secured lenders, unsecured lenders, boards of directors, bond insurance companies, government regulators, unions and rating agencies. He is based in Houston, and his international experience includes multiple roles in Latin America. He is certified by the New Mexico State Board of Public Accountancy as a CPA.
Dan uses his deep financial background and extensive experience in leadership positions to serve his clients in interim inhouse roles and as an external consultant, advisor and trainer. Since 2017, he has owned and operated The Strategic CFO, LLC, where he is the President. He has experience guiding businesses through various stages of their life cycle. Dan approaches problems with the mindset of a business owner. He is a pragmatic and objective-oriented problem solver that knows how to engage other people in teamwork and get them to collaborate effectively. Dan has a deep understanding of enterprise risk management and organizational behavior. He leverages the strength of his firm and an extensive network of friends and colleagues to match human capital resources with the right challenge. Dan is also certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration as a commercial pilot with instrument rating.
